O-Week at UNSW is an exhilarating experience filled with vibrant energy, diverse activities, and the opportunity to explore an array of student clubs and societies, making it a day of endless excitement and connection.

O-Week is something that every student should experience at least once in their university timeline. It infuses a lively atmosphere into a student’s college experience, creating a wonderful festive mood. Being a student myself, the best thing about starting university or a new term is to participate in the O-Week activities.

The festivities go on for a whole week which includes different fun activities as well as various clubs and societies to join and last but not the least, the delicious cultural cuisine organised by the diversified nationality societies. As someone who’s already in their 2nd semester, I made friends in university throughout the O-Weeks held at the beginning of each term by joining different clubs and participating in fun activities such as darts, badge making, speed-friending and the scavenger’s hunt.

The most exciting part is to take a stroll with your friends through the whole O-Week stalls ramp and have a look around to take part in your favourite group activities and see all the societies that are on offer. The second most amazing part is collecting the goodie bags. The O-Week organisers literally make one of the best goodie bags around, which include cookies, notebooks, mugs and even hoodies. One of the best memories that I have of O-Week is trying out the various cuisines from the food stalls including fish cakes and spring rolls from the Thai stall, gol gappe from the Pakistani stall, the tastiest jollof rice from the Nigerian stall and so much more.

As someone who looks forward to the next O-Week to experience the fun times again, I always tell everyone to attend this week-long festivity because the memories you make in that week lasts forever. It is more like a celebration for students like us who are coming back to the campus for the first time or from the term break.
