It was my Christmas dream come true.

Since I was a little girl, I loved The Nutcracker. I first learned about it through the movie “Barbie in the Nutcracker” and was enchanted with the storyline. I wanted to be like Clara who went to a new world, defeated the Mouse King and dance with the Nutcracker who was actually a handsome prince. Every year, around Christmas time I would watch the movie with my family, who is probably sick of watching it so many times.

This year, as I’m in Sydney during the summer I was a little sad that I couldn’t watch the Barbie movie with my family. But my friends surprised me with tickets to see The Nutcracker ballet at the Sydney Opera House! I was so surprised I screamed a lot. I have been to the Opera House and taken lots of pictures with it, but have never been inside.

Inside the Opera House was so beautiful, even at night time. When the ballet dancers started their performances my mind was blown. They danced so beautifully and I wondered how they’re able to smile so much when going on their toes.

When they finished, I clapped so loudly and I can even say that the ballet was better than watching the movie! Maybe over the summer I’ll think about taking some beginner ballet classes, and get one step closer to my favourite character of Clara.
