The night sky was bursting with an array of kaleidoscopic patterns.
I was able to tick off something on my bucket list, which was to see the big new years fireworks near the Opera House!
I woke up very early to get ready, met my friends and found a spot near Circular Quay around 10am. I thought there wouldn’t be too many people but I was surprised that so many places had been take already. Some people had camped outside with a tent and blankets and many people brought their own chairs which was smart of them. I only brought a picnic mat but it was better than just sitting on the grass.
There was a lot of time until midnight so I chatted a lot with my friends, we played some card games, ate the food we brought and also took turns taking a nap because we were getting tired from waiting for so long.
When the 9pm fireworks happened, it was really pretty and got me excited again because I know we were getting closer to the big show. Then at midnight, finally the real fireworks show started and everyone around me was cheering and having so much fun. The music was loud and my favourite part was when the fireworks shot out of the Harbour Bridge. It was so beautiful and one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen.
Getting home was difficult because there was so many people trying to leave but luckily my friends and I booked a hotel room so we continued to chat for a little bit more and then went to sleep. It was the best time welcoming 2025 with my friends in Sydney.
