Use this time to soak in the sun, go for long walks, and think about what kind of year you want this to be.
Welcome to “The Beginnings Edition” of In The Know, the first issue of the year! We’re so excited to bring you a fresh collection of fun activities, inspiring stories, and helpful tips to make the most of your summer break and set the tone for a productive 2025. If you’re looking to fill your days with a little adventure, the Sydney Festival is back and bringing the city to life with a range of exciting events. The list of activities goes on and on: music, arts, performances… just know that they will leave you in awe! One experience that is getting lots of attention from the Sydney Festival is the trapeze workshop at Darling Harbour. If you’re someone who loves a bit of adrenaline, this is your chance to learn the ropes (pun intended!). In fact, one of our editors has already signed up!
This month, we also have the pleasure of introducing our special guest writer, Virginia. She’s here to share her fascinating journey as an international student in Italy. Her story is full of valuable insights and personal growth, along with her signature humour, so here’s your chance to get to know a bit more about the teaching staff at the College.
For those of you with an eye for photography, we’ve got something special from the Photography Club. Aeneas, the president, has shared an incredible gallery showcasing the raw and silent beauty of New Zealand. His photos, taken during his travels, captures serene landscapes and dramatic coastlines, all through his artistic lens.
If you’re planning to enter the workforce this year or just want to sharpen your skills, we’ve put together a list of the top qualities employers are looking for. Communication, problem-solving and adaptability. These are just some of the sought-after skills that will grab the hearts of prospective employers and honing such skills can set you apart in today’s competitive job market. It’s not just about having the skills; it’s also about understanding how to present them effectively to potential employers.
And, of course, we’re thrilled to have our THRIVE intern Jolin back this month with a simple, easy-to-follow guide on how to integrate healthy habits into your daily routine. Jolin’s practical advice will help you establish small, sustainable changes that can lead to a healthier, more productive lifestyle. With her tips, you’ll be set to make 2025 your most fulfilling year yet.
So, grab a comfy chair, a patch of grass, or even a beach towel, and dive into the pages of this issue!
