We are here to support you. In return you are required to follow a set of very clear rules designed to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
UNSW College will notify your parents if you breached any of the Under 18 rules and serious breaches may result in cancellation of your CAAW which may result in cancellation of your student visa.
- Important: Under 18 students are prohibited from smoking, drinking alcohol or using prohibited drugs at all times. It is against the law in Australia.
- Attend the Under 18 Students Orientation Session.
- Daily check of your student and personal email account for important messages from UNSW College.
- Always update UNSW College with yours and your parents’ current personal email address, mobile numbers and contact address in the Student Portal. Here is the portal link for you to update your registered details.
- Attend all Under 18 students’ workshops.
- Attend all Under 18 Meetings with a Student Wellbeing Adviser
- Only stay in accommodation that is approved by UNSW College
- Follow U18 Accommodation Rules:
- Curfew: You must remain in your room from 10pm – 6am.
- Visitors: You must have approval to have visitors in your room.
- Staying Away: You must have written approval from a Student Wellbeing Adviser if you are planning to stay outside your approved accommodation. For example, if your parents are visiting Sydney.
- You must allow at least 5 working days for approval from a Student Wellbeing Adviser if you want to:
- Stay somewhere else for a night or travel out of Sydney
- Change your accommodation (where you live)
- Return home (to your home country) during the school holidays
- Make any changes to your enrolment
- Transition to UNSW:
If you will be still Under 18 when you start your UNSW degree program, you must confirm with a Student Wellbeing Adviser:- If you are going to return home or stay in Sydney in approved accommodation during the gap period between your UNSW College finishing and UNSW degree program starting.
- Your accommodation for when you start your UNSW degree program
You will be given a deadline to do this. If you do not confirm the above arrangements by the specified deadline your Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) will be cancelled. You will have to return home and apply directly to UNSW for new CAAW.
