Ever wonder what the trailblazers of the Student Representative Council are like?

It has been a bit over a month since we revealed the new members of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and they have been working hard behind the scenes to bring their many ideas on elevating everyone’s student experience to life. You may have seen them milling around beetling from place to place but they are never too busy to say hi so remember you can always go to any of them for advice or suggestions.

No doubt there are those of you who are unfamiliar with who are leading the members of SRC, so we’ve asked our Chair and Deputy Chair twenty questions so you can get to know them a bit better!

1. What motivated you to join the SRC?

I wanted to make this place a home away from home for students where they feel comfortable and heard.

2. Describe yourself in a hashtag.

#avidmusiclistener

3. Are there any goals you would like to achieve during your time on the council?

Programmes that provide recreation for students as well as programmes that assist students academically so that they can keep up with their schoolwork.

Read books.

5. What’s the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome since starting at UNSW College?

Homesickness for sure but I slowly started to grow fond of Sydney as well.

6. Favourite restaurant in Sydney?

I like cooking my own food at home so I don’t really go out to restaurants.

7. How do you balance your studies and personal life?

I have a very detailed timetable that allows me to plan every hour of my day so that I can spare some time for recreational activities.

8. What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I have a pet rabbit.

9. How many languages do you speak?

Three.

10. Best study spot on and off campus?

The end of exams.

12. Three things you can’t live without?

My laptop.

My iPad.

My headphones.

13. Go-to coffee order?

I do not drink coffee, I am more of a mango juice kind of girl.

14. What’s your best memory so far from being at UNSW College?

Studying with my friends at midnight in the library.

15. If you could switch lives with one person for a day, who would it be?

I do not have a person in mind, but I would love to switch lives with my rabbit. She has a pretty easy life.

16. Any plans for the end of year holidays?

I am excited to explore Sydney with my friends after exams.

17. When you’re feeling sluggish or unmotivated, what do you do as a pick-me-up?

I listen to religious music or eat junk food.

Sleep is imperative to productivity. Without proper sleep you cannot accomplish much.

20. What advice you’d give to future students, or current students wishing to be more active within the student community?

Simply sign up for volunteering projects. It is easy to do and loads of fun!

1. What motivated you to join the SRC?

I’ve always wanted to create a tangible change and contribute to the community that provides. This means SRC being the platform for me to develop myself and the College!

2. Describe yourself in a hashtag.

#justdoit

3. Are there any goals you would like to achieve during your time on the council?

Lots and lots! But to be short, improving the welfare of students; this will relate to supporting their academics while still maximizing fun times in the College!

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Cliche, but Netflix for sure.

5. What’s the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome since starting at UNSW College?

Adapting to both the culture and learning methods used here. Doing great for the former, but still working on the latter though!

6. Favourite restaurant in Sydney?

Got to be Wingboy or Chat Thai!

7. How do you balance your studies and personal life?

I like to think, what’s the purpose of living solely for the numbers on a piece of paper? So, do enough for success and spare some time to live a little!

Give me dumplings and I’ll forgive all your sins.

9. How many languages do you speak?

Three if you count broken Chinese!

Getting the semester exam over with for sure.

12. Three things you can’t live without?

Vaseline, money, and dumplings.

Honestly, mundane things like meeting lots of interesting people every time I’m in the Student Hub!

15. If you could switch lives with one person for a day, who would it be?

Kylie Jenner.

16. Any plans for the end of year holidays?

Ouuu Melbourne! (Sorry Sydneysiders)

17. When you’re feeling sluggish or unmotivated, what do you do as a pick-me-up?

That the feeling of regret will be worse than the current feeling of laziness.

18. Which country do you want to travel to next?

Iceland!

19. Best advice you’ve received?

“Your future needs you, your past doesn’t.”

20. What advice you’d give to future students, or current students wishing to be more active within the student community?

Instead of waiting for change, contribute to the change. It might be as small as respecting the community or even cleaning up after yourself, but I’ve always felt like these little things are what’s lacking in a lot of education institutes. If you want more challenging or fun activities, then UNSW College offers many opportunities like the Volunteers Program!
