The title of this issue rhymes – how cute!

This month’s issue of In The Know is all about something we all crave, but don’t always know how to build: connection. That’s right, May is “The Connection Edition”, and we’re diving deep into what it really means to create meaningful relationships with the people around us.

When you’re sitting in a classroom full of students, it’s easy to feel like you’re surrounded by people but not necessarily connected. Building lasting friendships takes more than just proximity; it takes a bit of courage, effort, and a proactive approach. But don’t stress, we’ve packed this issue with helpful tips to help you expand your friendship circle and get more comfortable reaching out to others.

This month, we’re thrilled to feature a thoughtful piece by staff writer Diala Ibrahim, who unpacks the role of communication in education. Diala reminds us that while the fear of speaking up can be intimidating, the act of speaking is about more than just language. It’s how we share ideas, learn from each other, and build lasting bonds, from ancient communal storytelling to today’s classroom discussions.

Plus, THRIVE intern Jolin takes a closer look at the sometimes blurry line between platonic and romantic relationships and how to spot the difference. Their article encourages readers to recognise unhealthy dynamics and instead cherish the healthy connections they’ve built, whether that’s a close friend, a partner, or someone who just gets you.
