June is Pride Month — a time to honour the history, resilience, and achievements of the LGBTQIA+ community. In Sydney, the Pride Festival celebrates diversity and promotes awareness, education, and support for LGBTQIA+ organisations and individuals.
At UNSW College, we proudly stand with the LGBTQIA+ community and our students. Pride Month is a reminder to show compassion, speak up for equality, and support those facing challenges related to identity, discrimination, or mental health.
What Is Pride Month?
Pride Month is held every June to honour the ongoing fight for LGBTQIA+ rights, rooted in the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. It has grown into a global movement that empowers individuals to live freely and authentically.
For international students in Sydney, Pride Month is a unique opportunity to engage with one of the most inclusive cities in the world. It is a chance to explore identity, build connections, and contribute to a respectful campus culture. Whether you identify as LGBTQIA+ or as an ally, there is a place for you in Pride.
