Get more done in less time

The assignments, revision, group projects and personal commitments are all starting to pile up. It’s a lot. Then when everything hits at once, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, stuck, and unsure where to begin.

That’s exactly why this month’s edition of In The Know is here to support you. July is “The Productive Edition”, and we’re delving into how you can build a balanced, sustainable routine that helps you get things done, just without the burnout.

One of our articles explore how developing good habits is the real key to unlocking your productivity. Habits are the unconscious actions we do every day (brushing our teeth, checking our phones, opening the curtains) and when you intentionally build positive ones, they form the foundation of a daily routine that works for you. The more helpful habits you acquire, the less brainpower you spend on basic decisions, freeing up energy for the bigger, more important stuff that require your attention.

Don’t miss our quick guide to pulling yourself out of that “blegh” feeling – we’ve all been there. Follow for some got practical ideas to help you recharge so you’re ready to tackle whatever comes your way.

But remember: productivity isn’t about doing more every waking second of every day. THRIVE intern Jolin shares a thoughtful reminder about finding balance. In the drive to be efficient, it’s easy to slip into “productivity anxiety” – the pressure to always be doing something, even when your body and mind are calling for a break. Moderation is key. Productivity is most powerful when it includes time to pause, reflect, and just breathe.

On a lighter (and very impressive) note, we’re also celebrating creativity in this month’s edition. Our recent Art Festival: Secret Garden showcased some incredible talent from the Photography Club. The student-voted winners are featured in these pages, along with a few honourable mentions that deserve a moment of “wow”. You’ll be amazed at how beauty, stillness and storytelling can be captured in a single frame.

This month’s special guest writer Katrina Scott explores the quirks of Aussie slang and why Australians shorten literally everything; and how mastering these colloquialisms can help you zoom through conversations and feel more connected (and yes, more productive!) in your everyday social life.
