IF YOU ARE A CONTINUING STUDENT AND YOU RECEIVE A MISCONDUCT ALLEGATION
(This means you are not a potential graduate yet.)

  1. Student receives an allegation of academic misconduct.
  2. Student will be asked to submit a response to that allegation.
  3. Student’s case will be investigated by a specialist Academic Integrity team – it is important to note that investigations can take a few days to many months to finalise, depending on the complexity and seriousness of a case.
  4. Students who are waiting for their outcome should be aware of the following key dates which will determine their next steps:
  5. If your academic misconduct outcome is not finalised by {Date 1}, it may be ready with outstanding results at the next opportunity on {Date 2}
  6. If your academic misconduct outcome is not finalised by {Date 2}, you will need to re-enrol into the course for which you were charged with academic misconduct and commence the course in the next Diploma term.
  7. If your academic misconduct outcome is not successful and you are waiting for an appeal outcome before census of the following term, then you must continue to study in that course.
  8. If your academic misconduct outcome is successful before census of the following term and provides a pass mark for the course, then you can proceed to drop the course and enrol in the correct course as outlined in your study plan.
  9. If your academic misconduct outcome is finalised after census of the following term and the outcome is successful and provides a pass mark, then you can drop the course and apply for fee remission on the grounds that you are not required to take the course again due to a successful outcome. As a result, your study load will be reduced due to the dropped course.
  10. If your academic misconduct outcome is finalised after census of the following term and the outcome is not successful, then you must remain enrolled in the course and work hard to pass it on this second attempt.

IF YOU ARE A POTENTIAL GRADUATE AND YOU RECEIVE A MISCONDUCT ALLEGATION.
(You would be graduating if not for this academic misconduct allegation.)

  1. If you have not yet entered your Unique Student Identifier (USI) into the Student Portal, you will not be able to graduate from the Diploma – your marks will be withheld: https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi
  2. Students who are waiting for their outcome should be aware of the following key dates which will determine their next steps:
  3. If your academic misconduct outcome is not finalised by {Date 1}, it may be ready with outstanding results at the next opportunity on {Date 2 – the last date for UNSW to receive Diploma results}
  4. If your academic misconduct outcome is not finalised by {Date 2}, you will need to re-enrol in the Diploma course for course for which you were charged with academic misconduct and commence the course in the next Diploma term.
  5. If your academic misconduct outcome is unsuccessful and you appeal this, and your appeal is successful, then you can apply to drop the Diploma course and apply for fee remission on the grounds that you are not required to take the course again due to a successful outcome. UNSW College will send your results to UNSW who will process your offer to commence in the next available term.
  6. If your academic misconduct outcome is unsuccessful and you appeal this and your appeal is also unsuccessful, then you will need to continue in the Diploma course for which you were charged with academic misconduct and commence the course in the next Diploma term.
