National Youth Week serves as a platform for young people to exchange ideas, participate in live activities, express their opinions on relevant matters, exhibit their abilities, acknowledge their societal impact, engage in competitions, and simply have fun!


The annual celebration highlights the skills and creativity of Australian youths aged 12 to 25.

Initiated by the NSW Government in 1989, Youth Week has evolved into a nationwide occasion. It is coordinated by and for young individuals in various communities throughout Australia. Youth Week strives towards ensuring young people can live physically and mentally healthy lives, have a voice and can influence change, and feel connected, engaged with, and welcomed in their communities.

We recommend the below activities to get started with:

Free casual basketball at Perry Park for Youth Week

11 April

Attendees aged 12-18 years can receive free entry for basketball from 3pm to 6pm. Come connect with other young people and international students in our community

Young Gamers Take Customs House

18 April

This is a public celebration of games as a distinctive artistic medium, and the young individuals who craft and participate in them.

Bronze Medallion Youth Week Event

20 April

Run by the Royal NSW Lifesaving, the Bronze Medallion develops knowledge, judgement and skills in rescue, personal survival and emergency care.
