At UNSW College, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students. The L5 Building has been designed to support a diverse community and ensure that everyone can participate fully and confidently in campus life.

To find out more, read our Students with a Disability Procedure.

Building access

The L5 Building provides step-free entry points at both the North and South Entrances, and lift access to all teaching and student spaces. Clearly marked accessible entrances and wide corridors allow for easy movement throughout the building.

Accessible toilets are available on every floor, and facilities are designed to accommodate mobility aids. Seating areas and classrooms include flexible layouts to support different access needs.

Learning accessibility

We understand that accessibility extends beyond physical spaces. Students who require educational adjustments due to disability, health conditions, neurodivergence or the impact of trauma can access tailored support services.

Through Equitable Learning Services (ELS), students may be eligible for:

  • Exam adjustments
  • Assistive technology recommendations
  • Note-taking support
  • Flexible learning arrangements
  • Accessibility planning for classroom and assessment settings

Safety and evacuation

The L5 Building includes evacuation plans on every level so we highly recommend taking a look at those and remembering where the emergency exists are.

In the event of an emergency:

  • Follow the instructions provided by Fire Wardens and College staff.
  • Do not use lifts unless specifically directed by emergency personnel.
  • Proceed calmly to the northeast corner of Kensington Park, located at the intersection of Barker Street and Day Lane. This assembly area is only 300 metres from the L5 Building.
