The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) has released a valuable new resource to support young workers and international students in understanding their workplace rights in Australia.
A recording of a recent FWO webinar is now available on their YouTube channel, covering essential information about pay, conditions, and where to seek help. This webinar will be accessible until Monday 5 January 2026, and we strongly encourage all education providers to share this with their students, particularly international students who may be unfamiliar with Australian workplace laws.
The session provides practical guidance to help students navigate their rights and responsibilities at work, including:
- Minimum pay and conditions under Australian workplace laws
- How to recognise and address common workplace issues
- Where to go for help and further information
In addition to the recorded session, the FWO is hosting two upcoming webinars which may be especially relevant for students working in specific sectors:
- Common questions about the fast food, restaurant and café sector (Tuesday 11 November 2025)
- Workplace rights and entitlements for apprentices in the building and construction industry (Wednesday 19 November 2025)
